San Andres (Nie Czapla)
Nie Czapla Coffee Roasters are based in the old port city of Gdańsk, Poland. San Andres is their take on Caturra, a tasty coffee we have covered before, but unlike the Colombian Yellow Caturra, this one comes from Honduras.
The list of the notes on the white bag promises three flavours: dessert chocolate, sweet grapes, and sugar cane. How do you get at them using Sage Bambino Plus and Sage Smart Grinder Pro?
Caturra beans offer non-offending acidity, but a lot also depends on where they are grown, how they are processed, and roasted. When you grind San Andres at setting 3, you can definitely taste grapes and sugar cane. Grinding it finer will let chocolate become more prominent. The best balance is achieved at 2, but any grind setting between 3 and 1 will produce tasty espresso as long as you remember to tamp it hard. For that reason San Andres is one of those coffees that are well suited to be consumed as the first espresso of the day when you are not quite awake yet and may turn the grinder setting one step too far.
MIXING WITH MILK
For tasty flat whites or cappuccinos, grind it at 2.
