Mina Blend (39 Steps)

Mina Blend by 39 Steps

39 Steps Coffee produced a blend called Mina. It’s a 50/50 mix of Brazilian and Colombian coffee beans. Roasted in Woolwich, this particular blend offers notes of marzipan, dark chocolate, and peach for your enjoyment. These are intriguing notes, but getting at them requires some extra care.

When ground at 3, Mina is hard to brew for longer than 24 seconds, and even then you need to tamp it hard. The resulting beverage tastes of slightly acidic fruit pulp taste, which is not offensive, but not anything like the notes listed on the bag.

Better results are achieved when you grind it at 2 or even at 1. Extraction time is then closer to 26-27s and the notes blend into the tasty mix promised on the bag.

MIXING WITH MILK

If you want to mix it with milk, grind it at 1.
